The delay of SNAP benefits in November will send Maine residents to food pantries, some for the first time.

Maine Food Pantries Bracing for Influx of SNAP Recipients

Earlier this month, the Maine Department of Health and Human Services and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced that the delivery of November's SNAP benefits would be delayed due to the Federal government shutdown.

Nearly 170,000 Maine residents receive SNAP benefits to help buy their food each month. The average monthly benefit for a family of four is $572.00.
