CORNING, N.Y. (WETM) — A Corning man was arrested following an investigation into child sex abuse materials, as stated in a release from the New York State Police.
Gerald D. Makin Jr., 53, was arrested on Friday, Oct. 24, on the charges of promoting a sexual performance by a child (class D felony) and possessing a sexual performance by a child (class E felony), the release said.
Makin Jr. was arrested on Friday following an investigation by the NYSP Painted Post Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Troop E Computer Crimes Unit, and Troop E Forensic Investigation Unit into reported ongoing child exploitation. The investigation started after state police received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the release explained.
