MANCHESTER, N.H. —

The power of community service was celebrated Monday in Concord at the Spirit of New Hampshire Awards.

The event, organized by Volunteer New Hampshire, honors organizations and individuals across the state who give back to their communities.

"The Spirit of New Hampshire Awards really just celebrates the spirit of volunteer service, the spirit of neighbor helping neighbor and individuals engaged in the community to make our state a better place," said Gretchen Stallings, executive director of Volunteer New Hampshire.

WMUR's Erin Fehlau and Sean McDonald served as emcees for the event.

Volunteers were recognized in several categories, including seniors, adults and youth.
