NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - It’s a new day in New Orleans as the Saints once again have a different permanent starter at quarterback.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport reports that Spencer Rattler, who served as the Saints’ starting quarterback through Week 8, is heading to the bench.
Rattler will be replaced by second-round pick Tyler Shough, who will be the franchise’s starting quarterback moving forward.
Rattler’s benching comes after two brutal losses for the Saints, which also happened to be the second-year signal caller’s weakest performances. In those two games, Rattler committed six turnovers in two games.
Sunday in Los Angeles against the Rams (5-2) will be a first career start for Shough, 26, who was taken out of Louisville with the 40th overall pick.
