The 2025 Virginia attorney general race is slated to be the most expensive state attorney general race on record, according to the ad tracking company AdImpact. A total of $36.8 million has been spent in the race so far, with Republicans spending $21.9 million and Democrats spending $14.9 million. Last year’s attorney general race in North Carolina saw a total spend of $35.3 million, while $27.2 was spent in 2024 in the Pennsylvania AG race. In Texas’ 2022 race, $32.8 million was spent and $19.2 million was spent in Illinois’ attorney general race in 2019.
