HALLSVILLE, Texas (KETK) -- A mistrial has been declared in the jury trial of Darius Gates Jr., 28, who was facing multiple charges including capital murder for a 2023 shooting that took place in Harrison County.
On June 11, 2023, Gates Jr. was arrested after a fatal shooting that left two men dead, Keyan Jernigan, 29, and Duane Jernigan, 49. The shooting took place on Roberson Road in Hallsville.
Gates Jr. was charged with evading arrest/detention with a vehicle, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, possession and deliver of marijuana and capital murder of multiple persons.
