NEW BRITAIN, Conn. — New documents released by the State of Connecticut Superior Court reveal what one of the suspects in the death of Jacqueline Torres-Garcia told police in the initial days of the investigation.
Karla Garcia, Jackelyn Garcia, and Jonatan Nanita were all arrested on Oct. 13 and charged in the death of 11-year-old Jacqueline "Mimi" Torres-Garcia. Police said the investigation revealed that Jacqueline likely suffered from prolonged abuse and neglect before her death in the fall of 2024.
Nanita, Karla's then-boyfriend at the time of Jacqueline's death and the father of three of Karla's children, was charged with murder with special circumstances and conspiracy to commit murder, among others. All three were charged with cruelty to persons under 19 years of age.
