EUGENE, Ore. - Prince Puckler's Ice Cream, a beloved Eugene institution located near Hayward Field, is marking its 50th anniversary. Known for its handmade ice cream, the shop offers an array of treats, from banana splits to sundaes with Euphoria Chocolate.
Hazel Balialea, an employee, shared insights into the shop's continued success.
"We are really close to the university and I think just being a family business and just the family aspect of it I think keeps everybody to keep coming back and the ice cream is really great," said Balialea.
The shop's fame reached new heights on May 17, 2008, when then-presidential candidate Barack Obama and future First Lady Michelle Obama made an unannounced visit. They ordered mint chip ice cream, which has since become affectionately known as "Obama"
