For many of us on Long Island, the daily commute or weekend drive feels routine. But beneath the scenery of our roads lies a deeper truth: some stretches are significantly riskier than others. Recent crash data reveal that certain routes in Nassau County consistently rank among the most hazardous in the region.

The Numbers Are Stark

According to state‐reported figures, more than 5,000 crashes occurred in recent years across major arteries in Nassau County. Within that total, one route — Route 25A — accounts for roughly 15 percent of all incidents.

Meanwhile, the Northern State Parkway sees approximately 1,200 accidents annually, and the number of fatalities per crash there is roughly double the state average for similar highways.
