A person has been rushed to hospital after being stabbed on a residential South London Street.

Hither Green Lane remains closed with local residents being advised to "avoid the area."

The injured person was taken to a major trauma centre after paramedics were called to Hither Green Lane at around 3.25pm this afternoon.

Local bus routes 181 and 225 have been placed on diversion.

The Metropolitan Police Service has been contacted for more information on the incident.
