**Tragic Stabbing in Uxbridge: Community in Shock**
Wayne Broadhurst, a 49-year-old dog walker, was fatally stabbed in Uxbridge on Monday evening, prompting widespread shock and grief in the local community. The incident, described by police as a “senseless act of violence,” also left two others injured.
Emergency services were called to Midhurst Gardens around 5pm, where they found Broadhurst critically injured. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the scene. A 45-year-old man sustained life-changing injuries, while a 14-year-old boy was also stabbed but is expected to recover.
The Home Office confirmed that a man arrested in connection with the stabbing had entered the UK via a lorry and was granted asylum in 2022. Contrary to social media claims, officials stated that he does not reside in an asylum hotel or any Home Office accommodation, but lives at a private address.
A 22-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. Footage circulating online shows the suspect being pursued by police officers, who shouted commands to drop a knife before deploying a Taser.
Local residents expressed their disbelief at the violence. One neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, described Broadhurst as a familiar face in the area, stating, "He was just doing the normal dog walk that he does every day." She added, "I still can’t get over it. If he was five or 10 minutes later taking the dog out would the same thing have happened?"
In a show of solidarity, around 100 community members gathered on Tuesday night to lay flowers and light candles at the scene. One woman, who also chose to remain unnamed, shared her feelings of horror upon learning about the incident, saying, "That somebody could actually do that, it’s just awful. The area used to be lovely, over the years it’s really gone downhill."
Chief Superintendent Jill Horsfall addressed the community's concerns, stating, "This was a shocking and senseless act of violence that has left one man dead and two others injured. Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends at this unimaginably difficult time." She assured residents that additional officers would be deployed in the area to provide reassurance as detectives continue their investigation.
The Metropolitan Police are working to determine any relationship between the suspect and the victims, while the investigation remains ongoing. The attack is not being treated as terrorism.
