A child has died after an incident took place involving "hazardous materials" in a flat in east London. Several nearby homes were also told to evacuate in the midst of the incident. ‌

The London Fire Brigade were alerted to the incident taking place on Tuesday afternoon (October 28) and arrived at the scene on Barking Road in the Upton Park area of Newham at around 1:18pm. Immediately, officers were on the case, after people had reported the smell of chemicals coming from a flat. ‌
