MADISON, Wis. (WFRV) - As the federal government shutdown endures and heads towards a probable full month, Wisconsin officials are joining a lawsuit against President Donald Trump's administration to restore funding for the FoodShare program.

According to a Tuesday afternoon release from Governor Tony Evers, Wisconsin announced on Monday that it would join the lawsuit, which was officially filed today.

The lawsuit is said to fight Pres. Trump and his administration's decision not to use available funding to extend food assistance into November. The decision, Gov. Evers said in the release, will force about 700,000 Wisconsinites to lose access to basic food necessities.
