Crews contain east Louisville apartment fire in 25 minutes

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Two fire departments battled an apartment fire in east Louisville Tuesday morning.

The Anchorage Middletown Fire & EMS and the St. Matthews Fire Department were called to an apartment fire at the Sawyer East End Apartments on Shining Willow Drive, just off Westport Road, around 9:42 a.m.

The units arrived within four minutes of dispatch, and found the fire in the second story of an apartment building, a spokesperson for Anchorage Middletown Fire & EMS said.

Crews attacked the fire from inside and contained it to that apartment; the spokesperson said they went into a neighboring apartment, and it did not sustain any damage. Just over 30 firefighters got the fire under control in 25 minutes.
