MADISON (WKOW) — State Attorney General Josh Kaul (D-WI) has filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration, urging the use of emergency funds to maintain the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) during the ongoing federal government shutdown.
The shutdown threatens to suspend SNAP, known in Wisconsin as FoodShare, which assists over 40 million Americans, including 689,000 Wisconsinites.
“Millions of Americans, including children, seniors, and veterans, are on the verge of losing access to the food assistance they rely upon,” Kaul said in a statement.
