A man has been arrested in connection with a series of tire slashing incidents in North Vancouver over the weekend. The North Vancouver RCMP reported receiving at least 16 complaints of slashed tires in the Lynn Valley area on October 25 and 26. Most of the incidents occurred during the day, primarily between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., along Kirkstone Road, Viewlynn Drive, Lynn Valley Road, and Mountain Highway.
Police believe there may be additional unreported cases. Surveillance footage played a crucial role in identifying the suspect, who was taken into custody on Monday afternoon. “He is currently held in custody pending the outcome of the investigation,” the RCMP stated.
Cpl. Mansoor Sahak emphasized the importance of community involvement in the investigation. “Our investigators conducted an extensive neighbourhood canvass in an effort to advance this investigation,” he said. He urged residents to report any incidents of tire slashing to help the police better understand the scope of the problem.
Anyone who witnessed suspicious activity or has relevant video footage is encouraged to contact the North Vancouver RCMP at 604-985-1311.
In a separate incident, a child was robbed by two teenagers in a New Westminster park on Sunday afternoon. The robbery occurred around 5:30 p.m. in Moody Park. A parent reported that their child, who is under 16, was approached from behind by the suspects who demanded money.
New Westminster police quickly responded and determined that one of the suspects was known to the victim. “They were arrested for robbery and later released to their guardians,” said NWPD spokeswoman Hailey Finnigan. She added, “This is a concerning incident for both the young victim and their family. We’re grateful the victim had the courage to come forward.”
Authorities continue to investigate both incidents and encourage the public to remain vigilant.
