A 28-year-old Hamilton man is facing multiple charges after Ontario Provincial Police allegedly found a prohibited rifle in his vehicle.
An OPP officer from the Burlington detachment was watching for speeders on Highway 6 near Leeming Road in Hamilton around 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, when the cruiser’s automatic plate reader registered a match on a passing vehicle, OPP said in a news release.
The alert notified the officer, the vehicle was registered to a suspended driver. The 28-year-old is serving a one-year driver’s licence suspension after being convicted of impaired driving, OPP said.
The vehicle was stopped and the driver identified as the registered owner. He was arrested for driving while prohibited.
