Srinagar, Oct 28: Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Uri Dr Sajjad Shafi on Tuesday raised the demand for establishing a fire service station in north Kashmir’s Boniyar area, citing repeated fire incidents and the absence of immediate response facilities.
Speaking in the Assembly, Dr Shafi said land had already been identified and handed over to the concerned department for setting up the fire station in Boniyar. “But nothing was done on it,” he said, expressing disappointment over the inaction despite repeated follow-ups.
He recalled that last year, a fire tender had been temporarily stationed in Boniyar following public outrage over a major blaze. “However, the vehicle was later taken back without informing anyone,” the MLA said.
