IOWA CITY — Near the end of Iowa football ’s demolition of Minnesota on Oct. 25, Jeremy Hecklinski reached a milestone. The redshirt freshman quarterback scored the first touchdown of his college career.
For the second time in the last three games, Hecklinski got snaps in game action.
On a second and goal, Iowa ran an inverted triple option. Hecklinski faked the handoff to running back Jaziun Patterson and took off to his right. Hecklinski dished out a pump fake before crossing the line of scrimmage and then barrelled into the end zone with a dive for a 6-yard score.
In limited action, Hecklinski finished the game 1-of-1 passing for six yards, along with one rush for six yards and a touchdown.
