Aurora’s driverless trucks are already navigating the 240-mile drive between Houston and Dallas — now, they’re also making the more than 600-mile trip between Fort Worth and El Paso.
The advancement is the latest milestone — and “industry first” — for the Strip District-based company, Aurora officials said Tuesday.
“Six months out from launch, we’re achieving more industry-firsts, expanding quickly, and paving the way to deploy hundreds of trucks next year,” Chris Urmson, Aurora co-founder and CEO, said in an announcement Tuesday.
Aurora’s “inaugural” driverless route on public roads, between Dallas and Houston, came six months ago. In August, the company announced a software partnership with McLeod Software to expand its customer base.
