ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) - Voters in Albany will be picking a new mayor in the November General Election. Two candidates are trying to replace Kathy Sheehan, who is not running for re-election.
One of them is Republican Rocco Pezzulo. He's trying to become the first republican to be elected Albany mayor in more than 100 years. The lifelong Albany resident owned a restaurant in the city, became a mental health consultant, and started a treatment center.
Pezzulo says public safety is key to revitalizing downtown neighborhoods. "You must, before even bringing in businesses, you must create a foundation where there's integrity, trust, support in the law," said Pezzulo.
