BOISE, Idaho — Former U.S. Representative Richard Stallings , D-Id, has died, according to a statement released by Idaho Democratic Party Chair Lauren Necochea. Stallings had recently celebrated his 85th birthday on Oct. 7.
The congressman represented Idaho’s 2nd Congressional District for four terms. He served in the U.S. House from 1985 to 1993. Before his time in Congress, Stallings worked as a history professor at Ricks College (now Brigham Young University–Idaho) .
Governor Brad Little announced on Tuesday, Oct. 28, that all state flags be immediately lowered to half-staff. The flags will remain at half-staff until sunrise on Thursday, Oct. 30, in honor of Stallings.
