U.S. District Court Judge Eli Richardson tossed out a lawsuit last week brought by State Representative Justin Jones (D-Nashville) against Tennessee State House Speaker Cameron Sexton (R-Crossville). The judge ruled the Democrat lacked standing to sue over his 2023 expulsion from the General Assembly.
Richardson determined Jones failed to allege, "‘real and immediate, not conjectural or hypothetical’ injury," from his expulsion which, "would justify injunctive or declaratory relief," requiring the judge to dismiss the lawsuit for lack of standing.
