PORTERVILLE, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - A man was arrested for entering a Porterville home Friday with an unlocked front door and then trying to re-enter when it was locked, police said.

On Friday, Oct. 25, at around 10:20 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 300 block of East Putnam Avenue, regarding a report of a man who entered someone's home.

An officer arrived on the scene and located the suspect, who was concealing himself on the front porch.

Police said that 21-year-old Jesse Ray Dennis initially complied with the officer at first, but then he began to resist. He was ultimately arrested.

Police said that Dennis entered the backyard of the property and caused approximately $150 worth of damage to the rear fence. He also caused damage to the homeowner's car and carport.
