MARIPOSA COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Mariposa County deputies are wearing American flags with red stripes, and it's not for the firefighters.
The red flags are part of the “Wear Red on Friday” initiative to show support for the men and women serving our country around the world.
Why red? The color is the acronym for “Remember Everyone Deployed.”
Each Friday, the sheriff's office says staff will have the option to wear their new red patches in place of the U.S. flag patch on their duty vests. They also invite the community to join them in showing support and making sure "those deployed never feel forgotten."
