The Jamaican American Connection (JAC) in New Haven is ramping up its donation collection efforts to assist Jamaicans in the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa.
Karaine Holness, president of the nonprofit Jamaican American Connection, and Azaria Tyler, a member, are spearheading the donation efforts.

“We’re all interconnected regardless of what we think so each one, help one, that's what we believe, we do it as part of our mission, we try to take care of each other,” Holness said.
Over the next several weeks, they will be collecting donations to ship out as soon as it is safe with the help of the New York-based organization American Friends of Jamaica.
