A Newark man has been sentenced to 60 years in state prison for fatally shooting his stepfather outside the victim’s home two years ago.
Tyrone Cradle, 29, shot Rasool Crews, 48, multiple times on May 19, 2023, as Crews and his daughter were getting out of a vehicle outside their home in Newark’s South Ward, according to Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens II.
A jury convicted Cradle of first-degree murder and weapons offenses in late August.
Surveillance video showed Cradle emerging from the side of the house moments before the shooting then fleeing afterward.
Cradle was identified and charged four days after the shooting.
