A Newark man who fatally shot his stepfather outside their home has been sentenced to 60 years in state prison.
On August 26, 2025, a jury found 29-year-old Tyrone Cradle guilty of first-degree murder and weapons offenses in the killing of his stepfather, 48-year-old Rasool Crews.
The Honorable Naazneen B. Khan, J.S.C., who presided over the trial, handed down the sentence.
Authorities said the crime occurred on May 19, 2023, when Cradle ambushed Crews as he and his daughter were getting out of a vehicle.
Surveillance footage captured Cradle emerging from the side of the house, firing multiple shots, and then fleeing the scene. He was arrested four days later.
