A 75-year-old Palm Springs man who was missing for about 34 hours after going hiking was rescued, police said.
The man's roommate reported to police on Sunday night, Oct. 26 around 7:30 p.m. that he hadn't come back home. The man, whose name was not released, had gone to search for a cellphone he lost the previous night near the Cathedral Canyon Trailhead, the Cathedral City Police Department said.
The closest roads to where he went missing were Foothill Road and Elna Way, at the southern end of the Cathedral Cove area.
Cathedral City police started a search for the hiker with the help of the California Highway Patrol's aviation unit and the Palm Springs Police Department’s search and rescue unit. The CHP helicopter found the hiker alive,
