LANSING, (Mich.) WLNS -- The looming pause in SNAP benefits is causing worry among those who use them -- and advocates are working hard to help them prepare.

More than a million Michiganders receive SNAP benefits, but those benefits are set to pause Saturday, as a result of the federal government shutdown after the United States Department of Agriculture instructed the state to pause the distribution of SNAP benefit coupons for November.

Mid-Michiganders are busy stocking up on fruits, veggies, and other groceries for the week, but in just 4 days, many will have trouble affording many of the same groceries they enjoy now.

House Democrats say the pause would leave the roughly 1.4 million Michiganders who currently use the benefits without them. Experts, like activist Sommer Foster, warn
