The Toronto Blue Jays will not have George Springer in the lineup for Game 4 of the World Series against the LA Dodgers.
His status seemingly came down to the wire on Tuesday afternoon, as the Blue Jays’ training staff was trying to determine if he was healthy enough to go. With about two hours before first pitch, Toronto released its starting lineup without Springer, who had left Game 3 of the World Series in the seventh inning with “right side discomfort.”
This will be the first postseason game the Jays will play without Springer this October. Nathan Lukes will take over his leadoff spot in the lineup, while Bo Bichette will slide in as the team’s DH.
The Jays made several changes to the lineup to deal with Springer’s absence.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. will move up the lineup to bat sec
