East L.A.— Garfield High School and Monterey Continuation High School remain closed today after officials found a stockpile of fireworks at a nearby home.
Students from both schools were evacuated Monday after agents with the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives served a search warrant at a residence in the 400 block of Vancouver Avenue, a short distance from both schools, and discovered a stockpile of fireworks.
Luis Acosta was arrested on possession of explosives and possession of destructive devices, according a statement issued by Cal Fire today. The agency provided no further details.
