COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho — A home renovation became a story of community generosity when a former firefighter stepped up to help a friend in need.

Veteran Coeur d'Alene firefighter Dave Tysdal was having a new generator installed at his home when contractors accidentally struck a gas line during the renovation work.

A Former Athol firefighter and employee of Panhandle Propane responded to the emergency call.

Mike of Panhandle Propane repaired the severed gas line, completed the generator installation, and refilled Tysdal's propane tank—at no charge.

Dave Tysdal was one of three firefighters .

"We would like to recognize Mike and give a huge thank you," said The Coeur d'Alene Firefighters IAFF Local 710 in a post about the act of kindness.
