NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A strong fall cold front is on the way tonight, and it’s going to bring a big change to our weather for the middle of the week.
Showers and a few thunderstorms will move through late this evening and overnight as the front sweeps across the area. Most of the storms will stay below severe limits, but one or two could become strong, mainly across our western parishes. Once the front passes, rain will end quickly — but the winds will really start to crank up.
Gusty winds late tonight and through the day Wednesday could top 30 to 35 mph at times, especially around Lake Pontchartrain and across elevated roadways and bridges. A Wind Advisory will be in effect for parts of the area during the morning commute, so use extra caution if you’re driving a high-profile vehicle. On
