DES MOINES, Iowa (Gray Media Iowa Capitol Bureau) - Iowa’s soybean farmers are desperate for relief and hope that the U.S. and China reach a new trade deal.

President Donald Trump is meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping this week to continue discussions about China resuming its purchase of U.S. soybean exports.

”It’s great to see things moving in the right direction for our soybean farmers," Representative Ashley Hinson said at a press conference Monday.

“Promising news when China potentially agreeing to buy substantial amounts of our soybeans. And as we wait for more details on that deal, I will continue working with the administration to expand market access for our Iowa farmers and secure new trade deals.”
