FRANKFORT, Ky. (WKYT) - Kentucky Democrats are calling on Congress to extend Affordable Care Act tax credits for Americans before they expire Saturday.
Governor Andy Beshear and Congressman Morgan McGarvey held a press conference Tuesday where they said the credits will run out this weekend. If they do, this could mean higher premiums for many Kentuckians.
Beshear said nearly 100,000 Kentuckians could see their health insurance costs spike if Congress doesn’t extend ACA tax credits.
“If they are going to have healthcare coverage, it’s going to cost a lot more unless congress acts,” Beshear said. “So the sad choice they are going to have is either have healthcare coverage or not.”
The governor said premiums could increase up to 37% for 2026 coverage if ACA tax credits are not extended b
