PORTLAND, Ore. — Wells Fargo will lay off nearly 500 employees from three locations in Hillsboro, Portland and Salem in the coming weeks, according to a series of WARN notices filed with the state of Oregon in the past month.

The timing suggests the layoffs are part of a plan the company announced about a year ago to shift operations away from those three sites in the fourth quarter of 2025, including permanently closing the Hillsboro and Salem offices.

At the time of the announcement, the bank had already implemented hundreds of layoffs in Hillsboro and Portland over the prior two years. A pair of WARN notices filed in December 2024 stated that approximately 500 more employees in Hillsboro and 221 in Salem would be impacted at some point in the fourth quarter of 2025.
