PORTLAND, Ore. — One person has died following a house fire that was reported in Southeast Portland early Wednesday morning.
Portland Fire & Rescue crews were called to the 3300 block of Southeast 124th Avenue near Southeast Powell Boulevard around 3:45 a.m. Crews arrived to find the back of a single-story home in flames with heavy smoke.
About 10 minutes later, a firefighter found a person inside the home, in an area where high heat was reported, Portland Fire said. They were carried out of the home and found to be dead.
"Upon entering the house, firefighters were confronted with extreme clutter conditions, reported as floor to ceiling clutter, which made accessing all areas of the house a challenge," Portland Fire said.
The house fire was reported to be fully under control at 4:05 a.
