LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Arkansans are helping fight the opioid crisis one pill bottle at a time.

Officials with the Arkansas Opioid Recovery Partnership (AORP) said the Oct. 25 Arkansas Drug Take Back Day led to the safe disposal of more than 26,500 pounds of unwanted and expired prescription medication across the state.

The statewide initiative brought together more than 140 law enforcement agencies and community partners at 375 collection sites in all 75 counties, continuing efforts to prevent prescription drug misuse and protect communities.
