NORTHPORT, Ala. ( WBRC ) - With the recent elections some cities are changing administrations and it’s all happening next week.

That’s no exception for one west Alabama town, Northport, where a new mayor and three new councilmembers will be sworn in Monday night.

According to outgoing mayor John Hinton, Northport’s economy is in really good shape and there are four construction projects to prove it.

An economic boom on Lurleen B. Wallace Boulevard, an avenue with not one but three construction sites. A Smoothie King, Express Oil and farther down Lurleen, a Starbucks.

“All three of those should be open next year,” said Hinton.

Next year when mayor John Hinton will no longer be the mayor.

“I am very excited to get started,” mayor-elect Dale Phillips said.
