Frank Wilson has been working toward this moment for nearly three decades.
First as a graduate assistant at Nicholls and now as the running backs coach and recruiting coordinator at LSU , Wilson's career — spanning from the time he was a head coach at Texas-San Antonio and McNeese State and to two stints coaching at LSU — prepared him for Sunday's shocking news.
LSU coach Brian Kelly was fired, and Wilson was tabbed to replace him as the interim coach.
"I'm a part of the fiber of this state ... (I am) extremely humbled, extremely honored to be given this opportunity," Wilson said Tuesday during a news conference. "It's something that you would dream of, something that you don't know if it would ever come true."
