BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Kern County's largest Down syndrome awareness celebration was held over the weekend.

Hundreds came together for the "Walk for a Million Dreams" event at Stramler Park on Saturday. It was a day filled with fun, a petting zoo, rock wall, and a vendor resource fair.

"We are so much more alike than different, and so bringing awareness again, like we shared, is more than just awareness, awareness to the abilities, the contributions and achievements of all of our loved ones with Down syndrome," said Amber Ranger, Kern Down Syndrome Network co-founder.

All proceeds support programs for people with Down syndrome from birth through adulthood in Kern County.
