LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- Faith House of Acadiana hosted a candlelight vigil as part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month to honor survivors and remember those lost to domestic violence.
The vigil is part of Faith House's Purple Light Project, which aims to raise awareness about domestic violence and show support for survivors by encouraging people to change their porch or business lights to purple throughout October.
"Faith House is a non-profit that helps victims of domestic violence within the home, within the relationship," said Kristen Boutte, a spokesperson for Faith House. "Whether it be physical, emotional, verbal. We help with all different types of abuse."
