FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - The Fort Wayne City Council passed the city’s 2026 budget with a 6-2 vote Tuesday night.
All council members in attendance, with the exception of the Councilwoman At-Large Michelle Chambers and 6th District Councilwoman Rohli Booker, voted in favor of its passage. Councilman At-Large Tom Freistroffer was not present for the meeting.
Proposed cuts to Arts United, trails, and Science Central were a point of contention for the council during the meeting, as well a cut that nearly halved the budget for plans in southeast Fort Wayne. The $500,000 proposed cut for Arts United failed after debate among the council members.
