Vellore: A district-level review meeting on child welfare in Tamil Nadu’s Vellore district has revealed alarming data, with officials reporting that 415 teenage girls have given birth in the last 10 months. In the same period, 59 child marriages were documented in the district, exposing a deep-rooted crisis in child protection and adolescent health.

The meeting, which brought together child welfare and protection officers at the Vellore Collectorate, was convened to strategize on reducing child marriage and sexual abuse against children.
