SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Dozens of Woodbury County employees are concerned about looming changes to their health insurance plan. County board Chair Dan Bittinger says around 75% of the county’s more than 400 employees take advantage of the health insurance plan that’s offered by the county.
The county has been running the health plan at a deficit over the past several years. At the county supervisors meeting Tuesday night, the county made it known that last year the county had $6.7 million in contributions by employees compared to $8 million paid out in claims. So, County Board Chair Dan Bittinger said a change is needed to allow for a sustainable health plan.
Here’s how the proposed policy shapes up for Woodbury County employees, excluding sheriff’s deputies, who are represented by a union.
