HARTFORD, Conn. (WILX) - No. 22 Michigan State men’s basketball staged a late comeback, but it was not enough to overcome No. 4 UConn as the Huskies won 76-69 in a preseason exhibition at PeoplesBank Arena in Hartford, Connecticut.
The game had all of the physicality of a regular season contest, with 34 fouls called against UConn and 22 on Michigan State.
Michigan State trailed by 11 points at halftime and UConn led by as many as 19 points in the second half. The Spartans narrowed the lead in the game’s final 10 minutes, but ultimately lost by seven.
UConn’s Solo Ball and Alex Karaban led all scorers with 18 points. Jeremy Fears Jr. paced the Spartans with 14 points and six assists.
