SERGEANT BLUFF, IA (KTIV) - Tuesday night, the Sergeant Bluff City Council voted on new policies governing the placement of fences, and the appearance of tree branches, to try and address obstructions blocking intersection in the Woodbury County town.

The amendments to city code, which the city council approved, address what are called “corner lots” for homes in the city limits.

Take a look at this diagram provided by the city.

It shows the triangle, which measures 30 feet along property lines that meet at an intersection.

The amendment says there must be an unobstructed view within that “triangle” on any corner lot.

Also, the new city code says at intersections with “arterial” streets that distance isn’t just 30 feet, it’s 50 feet along the property lines from the point of intersecti
