SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - They say not all heroes wear capes. Sometimes, they wear cowboy hats and a belt.

Thirteen-year-old Merritt Moss is a Northwest Iowa boy with a lot of hobbies.

Topping off the list is advocating, both for the beef industry in Iowa and for the Ronald McDonald House of Siouxland.

“Because there’s families with kids in the hospital that just are in pain and that need help,” said Merritt.

It started when Moss set his sights on competing in the Iowa Governor’s Charity Steer Show at the Iowa State Fair and decided to use his platform for good.

“I started an online campaign called ‘Minute with Merritt,’ where I would advocate beef,” said Merritt. “Then I’d talk about the importance of the Ronald McDonald House.”
