HOMEWOOD, Ala. (WIAT) -- The Alabama Department of Transportation held a public meeting Tuesday to discuss improvement plans for a stretch of Highway 31.

According to the ALDOT, the plan is do resurfacing projects and sidewalk improvements.

Parts of Highway 31 from Ventura Avenue to Shades Crest Road will be affected. The projects come after the ALDOT awarded the city a $2 million grant.

Construction is set to start in the spring of 2026.
